Hatta Archaeological Area

The Hatta Archaeological Area is one of the important archaeological sites in the Emirate of Dubai. It is located on the left side of Wadi Jima and dates back to the second half of the third millennium BC. The site contains numerous archaeological tombs, approximately 28 of which have been identified with circular architectural layouts similar to those found at the Umm an-Nar site. Most of the tombs were found damaged and looted. Various engravings and drawings were discovered on stones of different sizes, along with bronze arrowheads.

The Al Yamh Mountain Range is one of the most prominent mountain ranges surrounding the city of Hatta. These mountains extend east of Hatta towards the Sultanate of Oman. Composed of sandstone, they are distinguished by their considerable height and numerous seasonal runoff channels, which carry rainwater into Wadi Al Yamh. This has created a fertile valley suitable for agriculture, located to the west of the Al Yamh Mountains.

The valley has been inhabited since ancient times, from the Stone Ages through the Bronze Age and Iron Age, and remains one of the most important agricultural valleys in Hatta today. The Al Yamh Mountains also contain a number of caves excavated by ancient inhabitants, possibly for extracting copper and iron ores. These caves require further excavation and archaeological study.
