Lines in the sand
Creative
Lines in the Sand is a proposal exploring the lesser‑known history of Bulgarian architectural influence in Abu Dhabi during the 1970s–1980s, focusing on the life and work of architect Georgi Anastasov. The project aims to reframe this history as part of Abu Dhabi’s urban identity by blending personal memory, architectural analysis, and cultural heritage. The proposal outlines an innovative research approach combining oral history, archival documentation, site mapping, and visual storytelling. It proposes creating a rich narrative structure that uses interviews, archival materials, and spatial exploration to connect memory, migration, and architectural legacy. The storyboard will guide the documentary’s emotional and visual language, with slow cinematography, soundscapes, and poetic narration. This project will serve as a blueprint for a film, an academic resource, and a cultural proposal, contributing to heritage preservation and intercultural dialogue between Bulgaria and the UAE.
