Honourees are selected based on their contributions to culture, creativity, and the broader societal impact of their work, including their geographical influence, such as their legacy, local and regional impact, and efforts to promote Emirati culture worldwide. The selection process emphasizes inclusivity, impact, and alignment with the UAE’s broader cultural vision.
The nomination process is conducted annually to honour individuals who have significantly contributed to enriching the UAE's cultural and creative landscape. These distinguished figures have each left a unique legacy, inspiring future generations through their leadership, innovation and generosity, and reaffirming the UAE's standing as a culture that inspires the world.
Design Inspiration
The Order design draws deeply from the UAE’s rich cultural heritage, integrating symbolic elements that resonate with the nation’s identity. At the heart of the design is the Falcon, a representation of vision, strength and perseverance, embodying the UAE's forward-looking spirit and resilience. Surrounding the falcon is the Sun, a symbol of life, vitality and energy, capturing the daily rhythms that fuel Emirati life and the enduring influence of natural forces on the region’s heritage.
Encircling these core elements is the Fort, representing protection, legacy and the preservation of traditions, underscoring the UAE's historical roots and the strength of its communities. The design also incorporates beads symbolizing the seven Emirates, emphasizing national unity and collective strength. Additionally, the use of Al-Sadu patterns in the ribbon, with colours inspired by camel racing and desert landscapes, pays homage to Bedouin craftsmanship and the enduring spirit of the UAE’s ancestral heritage, while a minted coin serves as the centerpiece of the commemorative Order, designed to inspire generations.
