صناعة البارود من الحرف التقليدية المهمة في الإمارات قديماً، حيث كان يُستخدم في الصيد، الحروب، والاحتفالات. يُصنع البارود من خلط مواد طبيعية مثل الكبريت، الفحم، ونترات البوتاسيوم (الملح الصخري)، و بعض النباتات مثل ( ثمار الاشخر ) وهي عملية تحتاج إلى دقة وحذر شديد. كان الحرفيون المتخصصون يعدّونه بكميات صغيرة في أماكن بعيدة عن البيوت تجنباً للخطر. بعد تحضيره، يُخزن في أوعية معدنية أو قماشية محكمة الإغلاق ليُستخدم في البنادق القديمة أو المدافع (أم فتيلة، أم صمعا). مكانة صانع البارود كبيرة لأنه يوفّر مادة أساسية للدفاع والصيد، كما أن البارود كان جزءاً من عروض الفروسية والأعراس عبر "العرضة" وإطلاق النار في المناسبات. أدواته: مدقات حجرية أو خشبية للخلط، أوعية معدنية للحفظ.
