الزبدة من المنتجات التقليدية المعروفة وتُستخرج من خلال خضّ اللبن داخل السِّقا أو المخض حتى ينفصل اللبن عن الزبدة. وبعد تجمع الزبدة تُوضع في إناء خاص للحصول على كمية مناسبة، ثم يُضاف إليها مقدار من الملح للمساعدة في حفظها ومنع تلفها أثناء التخزين. وكانت الزبدة تُستخدم في الحياة التقليدية كغذاء يومي يُؤكل مع الخبز أو يُضاف إلى بعض الأطعمة الشعبية. كما ارتبطت بالممارسات المنزلية التي تقوم بها الأمهات قديماً، حيث كانت الزبدة تُذاب على النار بطريقة خاصة لإنتاج السمن العربي المعروف بنكهته المميزة واستخداماته المتعددة في المطبخ الإماراتي التقليدي.
