Umm Rakhish

Umm Rakhish is an enormous bird resembling a vulture, with a bald head or only some feathers. It is described as extremely strong and capable of carrying a human being, sheep or cow and as harmful and ill-omened. People believed that devils could sometimes possess it, turning it into a demonic bird. It was said to pursue dead animals and feed on carrion and carcasses and could attack humans under certain circumstances. It appears suddenly and disappears without warning, causing fear and panic.
