في ليلة النصف من شهر شعبان، يحتفل الأهالي بهذه الليلة بتراثٍ اجتماعيّ مميّز يشارك فيه الصغار من الصبيان والفتيات. يجوبون سكك المدن الساحلية وهم يحملون بأيديهم أكياسًا مُعدّة خصيصاً لتكون مثل "الخرج الصغير" يضعون فيها ما يتحصّلون عليه من أصحاب البيوت من مكسرات وبعض الحلويات. وخلال تطوافهم هذا، يغنّون ويرفُعون أصواتهم مردّدين: "عطونا حقّ الليلة، عطونا الله يعطيكم، بيت مكة يوديكم"
