Two old summer houses built from stone and wadi mud are located in the Shimal area, just a few metres apart. Each house features windows and a traditional wind tower (barjeel), an advanced ventilation system consisting of open vents that direct cool air from the shaded palm gardens into the rooms.
While the windows of both houses are mainly positioned along the northern walls, the wind towers were constructed on the southern sides. The distinctive design of these houses helps keep direct sunlight out of the interior rooms.
